NBA Fans React After D’Angelo Russell Declares Anthony Edwards The “Rookie Of The Year” Minutes After LaMelo Ball Suffers Season-Ending Injury
Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball was the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, averaging 15.9 points per game as he led his team to a surprising 20-21 record in the East.
Unfortunately, Ball is now set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a fractured wrist in Saturday’s match against the Clippers.
Charlotte guard LaMelo Ball — rookie of the year frontrunner — is expected to miss the rest of the season with a fracture to his right wrist, source tells ESPN. He’s seeking a second opinion to confirm the diagnosis.

Of course, even something like this isn’t immune from controversy — and Wolves guard D’Angelo Russell got caught up in one after seeing an ill-advised tweet just minutes after the Ball news dropped.

Fans absolutely torched him for the comment, calling him “cold” and “disrespectful,” among other things.
At this point, Edwards is probably a lock to win ROTY, but that’s not really what’s on everyone’s minds right now. Tweeting about it just minutes after learning that Ball will miss this entire season was just a really bad move. Seriously, what was he thinking?
He did end up deleting it, so it seems D’Lo recognized his mistake, at least.
Ass for Ball, we’re all wishing him a quick and successful recovery.
