Steve Kerr Flames Media, Clarifies Comments About Durant: “That Is The Furthest Thing From The Truth…”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr made headlines on Monday after admitting to the world that the 2019-19 Warriors team was harder to coach than last season’s 15-50 squad.

While he did not point to Kevin Durant by name, the superstar was instantly attached to the quote, and he ended up responding to it with a short post on Twitter.

Now, after much uproar online, Kerr was forced to addresses the issue in a press conference.

“That is the furthest thing from the truth,” Kerr said. “It was a terribly unfair shot. Completely taking something out of context to the point where people are going to read it and think that that was my quote. … But to take that comment and put it into a tweet and send it out to the universe was so irresponsible and damaging. And I’m angry.

It’s ridiculous. You guys know this. We are so thankful for everything that’s happened over the years here. Throughout our run we’ve had so many great moments, great players and Kevin is celebrated here. You guys all know that. He had an amazing run. We absolutely wish him well. We’ve done that from the start and that’s why I’m so angry about this because this is complete BS.”

Even though many fans still aren’t buying Kerr’s innocence here, it’s totally possible everyone has misconstrued what he was trying to say.

Again, since he never called Durant out by name, there’s no real way to confirm whether or not he was part of the problems that the ’18-19 squad experienced.

Regardless of the truth here, Kerr, who is usually kind and gentle with the media, seems pretty upset over this whole ordeal.
