Kevin Garnett is set to enter the Hall of Fame next month and he will be introduced by Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas. This was a very surprising announcement for a lot of people, who are wondering why Zeke is in charge of presenting the Big Ticket.

Kendrick Perkins has shed light on this situation, explaining the deep relationship between the point guard and the power forward. Perk revealed that Thomas was a mentor for Garnett and he always showed his support for the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves legend.

“Isiah Thomas was a mentor to Kevin Garnett and is one of his favorite players and one of his favorite people of all time,” Perkins said, as transcribed by Nick Goss of Yahoo Sports.

“Isiah Thomas was the first person to give KG hope of coming out of high school. He told everyone in the gym that Kevin Garnett was going to be a pro. Ever since then, their relationship, their brotherhood has been inseparable.”

Perkins played with Garnett on the Celtics, going to two NBA Finals and winning one championship. The big man has the chance to learn about this relationship, which was unknown to a lot of people. Well, we know now the details behind this decision. Thomas is often getting hate for his comments on Michael Jordan but that doesn’t mean he is a bad person.

He developed a big relationship with Garnett and we’ll probably know more about it next May. Added to Zeke introducing Garnett, Michael Jordan will introduce Kobe Bryant and David Robinson will do the same with Tim Duncan.
