Ex-Lakers Drafted Players Could Create A Respectable Playoff Team

The Los Angeles Lakers could have had a very good team right now if they kept every player they drafted over the past couple of seasons. The purple and gold drafted a series of interesting players since 2014 and all of them are part of a different franchise now. Some have become stars and others are on the way to do so but had they stayed together, the team would look very good.

Slam Studios shared a very interesting pic of 10 players that were drafted by the 17-time NBA champions and are very good assets right now. If they were together, this team could make some noise in the Western Conference.

Starting with Lonzo Ball at point guard D’Angelo Russell at shooting guard, Brandon Ingram as small forward, Julius Randle as the power forward and Ivica Zubac at the 5. On the bench, they would have Jordan Clarkson, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Josh Hart, Larry Nance Jr. and Thomas Bryant.

This is indeed a very interesting team. Lonzo has improved his level in New Orleans, D’Angelo Russell has struggled this season but he became an All-Star two years ago, Brandon Ingram is one of the most exciting players in the league for the future and Julius Randle became an All-Star with the New York Knicks this campaign. Ivica Zubac has been getting more minutes with the Clippers after being traded by the Lakers.

They would have a decent second unit, too, especially with Jordan Clarkson, seen as the favorite player to win the Sixth Man of the Year award this campaign. Larry Nance Jr., Josh Hart and Thomas Bryant have been playing good basketball and Mykhailiuk is now trying to find his place on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s unclear if they would have reached their current level if they remained with the Lakers but they could have had a very good team. Perhaps not a championship-caliber squad but they could have competed in the postseason.
