Nikola Jokic On Recent Injuries: “They Are All Around The League. I Don’t Know What’s Happening. I Think We Need To, First Of All, Protect Each Other On The Floor, Because We Are Eating The Same Bread… We Can Play Hard And Compete But I Think We Can Play Kind Of Safer.”

Nikola Jokic has shown his concern with all the injuries happening recently in the league. A lot of players have gone down, some with season-ending injuries that could have been prevented and Jokic aimed at those, asking his colleagues, the rest of the team and even the association to protect the players and see if they can play safer.

After the Denver Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, the Joker talked about this situation, sending a big message to the rest of the competition. He just wants to play basketball and have fun out there and if people aren’t on the same page as he is, things will get complicated.

“The injuries are all around the league. I don’t know what’s happening. I think we need to, first of all, protect each other on the floor, because we are eating the same bread…We can play hard and compete but I think we can play kind of safer.”

We’ve seen some scary plays this season where players were or could have been injured. A couple of months ago, Joel Embiid’s back was hurt with a bad play by LeBron James, then James was the victim of another bad play when Solomon Hill rolled on his ankle. Kevin Durant, just last week, had to leave the Nets-Heat game after his knee clashed with Trevor Ariza’s and like those, we have plenty of cases.

Injuries have always been serious but this year, things have gone to the next level. Even the Nuggets suffered this with Jamal Murray tearing his ACL and Will Barton suffering a hamstring injury, too.

This situation isn’t easy for anybody. Teams are losing stars and that really affects the league. As Jokic said, you can play hard but safe and look for each other on the court. That’s a big message that a lot of people need to hear if they want to deliver a good product to fans.
