WhatsApp Beta for Android adds end-to-end encrypted chat backups for better data security

With the advancement of technology, the chances of data leakage and data harm are very high. So, it is the responsibility of app developers to secure the users’ data from hackers and possible threats.

In terms of user data safety, WhatsApp‘s new aim is to make the chat backup more safe and secure. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has released a new beta version 2.21.10.2 that suggests the arrival of backups with end-to-end encryption on Google Drive.

Currently, this security feature is under development on the beta channel of WhatsApp. The end-to-end encryption backup implementation will make backups uploaded to Google Drive, completely anonymous and also protected by a password that will not be saved on the application server, as it can only be accessed by the user.

Adding to this, users can only access the encrypted backup with a password. Also, there is an option to change the password or completely disable the end-to-end encryption of the backup from the settings.

Moreover, when users realize that they have lost or forgotten the password then there is also an alternative to create a recovery key, which allows you to access the backup protection password again.
