WOAH! Huawei regains Hongmeng OS trademark, Hongmeng continues
Today, Huawei has finally got the “Hongmeng” trademark, which was earlier rejected by the Chinese State Intellectual Property Authority (CSIPA). According to info, Huizhou Qibei Technology has officially transferred this trademark to Huawei.
Furthermore, the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office announced that the Hongemeng trademark was officially issued to Huawei from Huizhou Qibei Technology with all trademark rights.
Why Huawei want Hongmeng?
Huawei has invested 5 years in the development of its own distributed operating system, HarmonyOS, which is also famous with Hongmeng OS in China. This software system was first launched among consumers in September 2019. So, that’s the reason behind the trademark of Hongmeng.
What happened so far?
In May 2019, before launching the HarmonyOS, Huawei applied for the trademark Hongmeng to the CSIPA, which was discarded because it may cause confusion between the consumer.
In 2010, the two Chinese cosmetic companies already registered for HongmengOS. After the rejection of the Hongmeng trademark, Huawei has filed a petition to Beijing Intellectual Property Court against the CSIPA for discarding the application of the Hongmeng trademark.
But, the Chinese tech giant failed to justify the strong bond between Huawei and Hongmeng and the court did not accept the argument.
What will be the causes, if Huawei did get this?
Huawei’s Hongmeng OS is also much popular with the name HarmonyOS globally and also certified by many authorities with this name. Even, Huawei has opened the Weibo account with page name HarmonyOS. So, it seems won’t much affect the company, if it lost Hongmeng.
In the end, Huawei has finally regained its Hongmeng OS, and now, there is no confusion. Huawei fans don’t have to worry about the name, which is definitely a piece of good news for all of us.
