LeBron James may be the Lakers' best player, but Anthony Davis may be their most important.
At 36-years-old, King James isn't able to carry the load like he used to. A big body and elite star, Davis provides a critical contribution for the Purple and Gold, and it is only with his presence on the floor that the team really stands a chance to defend their title.
After suffering a groin injury earlier in the series, Davis' status entering Game 6 was questionable. And although he tried to give it a go, he only lasted about 5 minutes before limping off the court in pain.
Davis tried his best to give it a go, but he was a liability on the court and probably never should have been cleared to play to begin with.
Of course, the Suns quickly surmounted a huge lead after Davis exited the game, setting a rather sour tone for the defending Champs.
With their backs against the wall, will LeBron rise to the occasion and lead his team to victory, or will Father Time and injury prove too much for him to overcome?
So far, it is not looking good at all. But perhaps it's still too early to count the Lakers out completely.
