The Los Angeles Lakers had a disappointing exit from the playoffs this season. It is clear that this roster wasn't able to get it done, and the Los Angeles Lakers will have a lot of work in free agency.

One of the decisions that the Los Angeles Lakers will have to make is on the future of point guard Dennis Schroder. Schroder will be a free agent, and he previously declined a contract extension from the Lakers. Schroder has been linked to the Knicks, and there is no question that he will have suitors in free agency. However, per Marc Berman, there are people who aren't sold on Dennis Schroder, and that list includes an NBA scout who has concerns over the point guard.

He might be more suited as a backup point guard at this stage — in the same vein as Derrick Rose. The German turned down an $84 million extension, so he wants the big bucks. The Post reported in April he’s on the Knicks’ radar.

“I like Schroeder, but don’t like him running the team as No. 1 point guard,’’ an NBA scout said. “I question his leadership and shooting.’’

Schroder is a Thibodeau-type defender.

While Dennis Schroder may be a great defender, he is not an elite shooter and struggled as the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs. While the scout may have issues with Schroder as a starter, others may not feel the same way. It remains to be seen where Schroder moves in free agency, and hopefully, he ends up in a place well-suited for his talents.
