Trae Young is having a heck of a 2021 NBA postseason, leading his Atlanta Hawks to be three games away from the NBA Finals. The young player became a real menace this season, defeating big teams on his way to the Eastern Conference Finals.

He's doing a great job, and NBA fans already started comparing him to other guards in the league, including Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry and Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving.

One fan recently sparked a big debate when pointing out that several people are already putting Trae ahead of Kyrie after a single postseason run. Of course, not everybody was having that, and fans engaged in a heated discussion.

He had a great series stepping up against a rowdy MSG crowd but Kyrie will eat him up he’s just on another level

Wrong… come on people…

in his entire career? recency bias is a drug

Phenomenal cap

No kyrie is way better in my opinion

His entire career? That’s Huge Cap

I would have to agree with this take.

for those who disagree lmk how far kyrie has made it as the NUMBER ONE option in the playoff :)

false. love trae but false.

Comparisons are always hateful, especially with a player as young as Trae. He's only starting his career and people are already making these big takes. Of course, he's having great games in the playoffs but it's still early to say he's better than this or that player.

Still, even analysts like Colin Cowherd picked Young over Irving, saying the former is better than the 2016 NBA champion.

“I think he [Trae Young] is the No. 1 point guard in the East because I think he’s better and more dependable than Kyrie Irving, I do.”

These comments and comparisons will always create controversy. Given Young's impressive level, it's easy to compare him to the best players in the league. But, we still need to wait before putting him above Curry, Kyrie, and others.
