Bradley Beal Says The Wizards Exposed Ben Simmons: "He Was More Or Less Aggressive In Our Series, The First Couple Games, And Then It Kind Of Died Down And Trickled Down.”
Sixers star Ben Simmons got a lot of heat for his performance in the 2021 playoffs. Between his shooting struggles and complete lack of confidence on offense, his play was a huge reason why Philadelphia got bounced so early.
And while people continue to search for what went wrong (and when), Bradley Beal says Simmons got exposed during their round-1 matchup.
“We kind of exposed the move of fouling Ben putting him on the line a few times. Granted, I think in our series he actually made a few...Ben was more or less aggressive in our series, the first couple games, and then it kind of died down and trickled down.”
Simmons has never been a top-tier shooter, but he found other ways to impact the game. Whether it was his defense, playmaking, or his drives to the rim, he has (in years past) made up for his shortcomings.
Against the Wizards, though, we saw Simmons hit a rut. Not only did he get worse from the free-throw line, but his confidence also started waning as well, leading to the star becoming a hesitant and reluctant scorer.
That playstyle trickled down to the next round as well, where Ben's flaws really got put on dissplay.
Whether or not you credit the Wizards with exposing the young stud, Simmons will have to be better if the Sixers are to make any strides next season.
We'll see what they're able to do.
