Any team with a healthy LeBron James is a contender, and while he got eliminated in the first round this season due to the team's injury issues, it is clear that the Lakers will still be a contender next season.
A lot of shooting specialists in the NBA love playing with LeBron James. As much as he is capable on the court, it seems as though LeBron James is also a good motivator. Channing Frye has recently revealed a story about LeBron James, where he detailed what James said to his Cavaliers' teammates when they stopped shooting due to confidence issues. (8:35)
So, like, if he passed you the ball, and you don’t shoot it because you missed two, he’ll look at you like you’re crazy. Then he goes, ‘You don’t think I know what I’m doing? Shoot the ball.’ And I’ll be like, ‘Dang. You are LeBron so I probably should shoot it next time.’ It’s all encouraging. It’s all good. He’s one of the best teammates I’ve had.
It is clear that LeBron James is one of the smartest basketball players on the court in any given game, and he generally puts his teammates in positions to succeed. LeBron James obviously knows how to motivate his teammates and Frye's anecdote is a great example of that. LeBron James' leadership will be crucial next season, as the Los Angeles Lakers try to win the championship once again.
