Dennis Schroder Wants To Join Team Germany After They Made The Olympics
Dennis Schroder has changed his mind on his participation in the 2021 Summer Olympics. The Los Angeles Lakers point guard initially declined to suit up for Team Germany for the upcoming tournament. Still, things are different now that the European side is headed to Tokyo.
After his team beat Brazil in Split to make it to the Olympic tournament, Dennis talked with the German press, expressing his desire to join the team in the competition. However, he made it clear that going to Tokyo wouldn't be that easy.
“If there is a possibility, then that would of course be great,” said Schröder after the 75:64 in the final of the qualifying tournament in Split against Brazil, which cleared the way to Japan.
Schröder would like to go to Tokyo.
“I’m always available, but my situation is not that easy. But I hope we can sort that out by then. My agent has to do his job now. The German national team has done its job, let’s see,” said Schröder, who had supported the German team in all four games as a spectator in the hall, full of emotions.
If the team welcomes him, Dennis could only make the roster as an injury replacement. He couldn't come to terms with the German federation, as he looked to get insurance if he got injured.
NBA fans didn't like this sudden change of opinion from Dennis and blasted him. After Redditor "urfaselol" revealed the player's plans now that his team made it to the Olympics, the NBA community wasn't happy.
I feel like I haven't heard anything positive about Schröder after he left OKC
He was always a jackass. OKC just did an amazing job managing his ego and keeping shit under wraps.
He’s smart, but an a**hole. Sat next to him on a plane trip while he was a rookie playing on the Hawks G league team (G league flies public), and the guy was so full of himself.
Of course the “0 point game” took a toll, but we’ve been letting the tea spill for a minute.
Biggest diva in the league
i'm german and i dont like him at all.
I think he’s realizing that a great Olympic showing might help convince someone to give him the kind of contract he’s looking for. A little too late tho.
how is this fair to the players who practiced and trained together for the qualifier?
Maybe he can sign a 10-day with Milwaukee if the Olympics aren't available. Never hurts to ask!
So he could not attend the qualifications because of insurance problems but now everything is fine ? Com on guy …
He's quickly becoming the most hateable current player.
Guy is actively trying to make the whole world hate his guts. That’s tuff 💯🔥
Dennis put himself in a complex position when refusing to represent his country. Now he could still join the team, but the picture doesn't look favorable. This can be a great opportunity for him to demonstrate he deserves a big contract, but everything points out that he'll miss out on this chance.
