NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Would Trade Jaylen Brown For Bradley Beal Or Damian Lillard
There is no question that Jaylen Brown has improved over the last few seasons with the Boston Celtics, and his hard work has paid off with Brown getting his first All-Star appearance during the 2020-21 season. Jaylen Brown averaged 24.7 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 3.4 APG this season, and those are certainly All-Star numbers.
While Jaylen Brown is an extremely valuable player for the Boston Celtics, it seems as though there are still players that would convince the Boston Celtics to give up Brown. An article by Chris Leger relayed the words of NBA insider Chris Mannix, who has recently suggested that the Boston Celtics would trade Jaylen Brown for Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal.
There are a couple of players out there that I think the Celtics would move for Jaylen Brown. One would be Bradley Beal, who has to make a decision of his own the next couple weeks if he wants to sign that extension with Washington. If he doesn't, that's tantamount to a trade request and he can become available. And we all know at this point about the relationship between Bradley Beal and Jayson Tatum.
The other is Damian Lillard. It's still very much up in the air, Lillard's future in Portland. If in the coming weeks the Blazers decide that they have to trade Damian Lillard, I think Boston would be in a pretty good position to make a strong offer that would have to include Jaylen Brown. So, you don't just move him to shake things up, but if one of those two players becomes available I think you have to look long and hard about trading Jaylen Brown.
Both Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal are great scorers, and it is easy to see the reasoning behind moving Jaylen Brown if the goal is to make a win-now move and put another superstar next to Jayson Tatum. You don't just move an All-Star just for the sake of making a trade, but it looks as though the Boston Celtics could potentially part ways with Brown if either Lillard or Beal are on the trade market.
