One of the people who have massive respect for Tim Duncan is a legend from another generation, Bill Russell himself. Russell once revealed to Tim Duncan just how much he respects him. He shared a story about how Jackie Robinson's wife asked him to be a pallbearer at Jackie Robinson's funeral because he was Robinson's favorite athlete. He then also stated that he feels the exact same way about Tim Duncan.

She said you were Jackie's favorite athlete and that's the same way I feel about you. You've played hard, played smart, and won championships, and I don't think you've finished with that yet.

There is no question that this is the ultimate sign of respect from Bill Russell towards Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan was obviously Russell's favorite athlete and Russell wanting him to be one of the pallbearers at his funerals speaks volumes about how he views Duncan.
