The Chicago Bulls and DeMar DeRozan surprised everybody after agreeing to a deal that sends the veteran forward to the Windy City. After spending the last three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, DeRozan is ready to join a young team with a bright future.

DeMar was linked with other franchises like the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Bulls made a last-second move to snatch the player from rivals' hands. Chicago just landed Lonzo Ball, who is joining Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that DeRozan is signing a 3-year, $85 million deal with the Bulls, taking a pay cut to join Billy Donovan's team.

Charania adds that the deal is fully guaranteed.

The 31-year-old has made it clear he wants to compete for the championship, and it's unclear if the Bulls can help him in that endeavor. Other candidates like the Lakers and Clippers could have given him a bigger chance at the title. Still, the Los Angeles native picked a different direction.

The Bulls have a very good team for the upcoming season. Just like that, they became a candidate in the Eastern Conference.
