Chris Paul Had Surgery On His Left Wrist, Will Be Ready For Training Camp

Even though most people are focused on free agency and the breaking deals between teams and players, a piece of non-contract-related news made the headlines recently.

Apparently, Chris Paul underwent surgery on his injured left wrist shortly after the NBA Finals, but he's fully expected to be ready for training camp:

"Point guard Chris Paul is expected to be ready for the start of training camp next season after having left wrist surgery, a source told ESPN's The Undefeated on Monday. Paul had the wrist surgery recently after the NBA Finals, the source said. The 36-year-old was seen wearing tape on his left wrist during the 2020 NBA Finals," reported ESPN's Marc Spears.

"The 16-year NBA veteran averaged 21.8 points on 54.4 percent shooting and 8.2 assists per game for the Suns during the NBA Finals. The 11-time NBA All-Star also had a right hand and shoulder injury and took a hiatus due to Covid-19 during the 2021 NBA playoffs as well," Spears added.

What the report doesn't say is where's Paul heading next, as he just opted out of the final year of his contract with the Phoenix Suns, forfeiting north of $42 million.

Paul is going to be heavily sought-after around the league even despite his age, as he proved once again that he's one of the greatest point guards of all time and the kind of player who can turn any team into a contender.

Given his ties with Leon Rose and his alleged desire to play in the Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks emerge as a potential destination for the Point God. Nonetheless, most people expect him to work out on a 3-year deal to come back to the Phoenix Suns.

Wherever he plays, it's nice to know that he'll be at full strength after enduring multiple injuries in the playoffs.
