Dwight Howard has recently joined the Los Angeles Lakers once again, making it his third time with the franchise. He was crucial for the franchise during the 2019-20 championship run, and though he left to join the Philadelphia 76ers after that season, he returned to the Los Angeles Lakers after they assembled the big three on their roster.

There's certainly something to be said about this being Howard's third time with the franchise. His first season with the Los Angeles Lakers was during the 2012-13 season, and he was part of the failed super team with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash. Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant notably did not see eye-to-eye during that time, and he was traded to the Houston Rockets after just one season.

However, as fate would have it, he returned to the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2019-20 season. This time, he would be attempting to help LeBron James win a championship. Another legend, but the same goal. The Los Angeles Lakers succeeded in doing that, and Howard managed to get his first championship and rebuild his reputation with the Los Angeles faithful.

Dwight Howard has recently commented on returning to the Los Angeles Lakers for yet another season, and suggested that he and the franchise are "supposed to be together". Dwight Howard is still a capable role player, and he can certainly help the franchise in their quest for another championship.

This season will be tough for Dwight Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Western Conference will be no easy path. However, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the favorites to win it all, simply due to all the talent on the roster. Dwight Howard has won a championship next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis once before, and perhaps he'll do so again this season.
