Lakers Fans Destroy The Clippers After Rajon Rondo Signing

Perhaps no community in the entire NBA is as ruthless as Lakers Nation. As basketball's most prominent and luxurious franchise, they have the largest, and loudest, fanbase on the planet -- and everyone knows it.

So when news broke that veteran point guard Rajon Rondo would be returning to the Lakers, after a short-lived stint with the other L.A. team, it was no surprise that they took to Twitter to clown their inter-city rivals.

The Clippers gave up veteran scorer Lou Williams and multiple draft picks to trade for Rondo, so his arrival did not come at no cost. So to lose him so soon, and watch him sign right back with their greatest rivals, has got to sting.

Unfortunately, these types of embarrassments seem to be the norm for the organization.

Despite being among the West's better teams over the past decade, they have continually suffered brutal defeats in the postseason, often falling well short of expectations.

Time and time again, they are the laughing stock of the league. Even now, that remains true.

As for Rondo, he'll be returning to a very interesting situation with the Lakers. Despite being 35-years-old, he's only the sixth oldest player on the team.

An interesting fact is that if Rondo joins the team, he will still be younger than 5 other players on the team! Considering the two-time NBA champion is himself 35 years old, it might seem a little shocking.

The players that are older than him are LeBron James (36 years old), Carmelo Anthony (37 years old), Trevor Ariza (36 years old), Marc Gasol (36 years old), Dwight Howard (35 years old). 

Obviously, many questions and doubts have been raised about the state of the Lakers roster, and if a team of older, veteran players can compete against younger, stronger, and faster competitors in the West.

But there is no doubt that the Lakers have a strong appeal to players around the association, more so than even the Clippers.

Perhaps part of the reason is the sheer noise and activity of the fanbase, which never fails to make things interesting.
