Draymond Green On 2021 Warriors: "Historically We Have Not Seen That Work Where You've Got A Mix Of Old And Young."

Over the past decade, the Golden State Warriors have achieved amazing success, capturing three NBA Championships in five straight trips to the Finals.

While it may seem like a lifetime ago, that same core is active today, currently gearing up for what they hope will be another title run.

This time, however, the roster isn't just a core of veterans. With Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Moses Moody, and Chris Chiozza, the Dubs have a lot of young talent who could end up playing a significant role for the team.

Speaking on the state of the roster to Alex Didion of NBC Sports, Draymond Green expressed some doubt about what his team is capable of in this campaign.

 “I mean I think that’s the plan, so regardless of what I may think about it or what anyone may think about it, that’s kind of the route we’re taking and in the position I’m in, you just have to do all you can to make it a success,” Green told reporters Thursday.

"Historically we have not seen that work where you’ve kind of got a mix of old, I wouldn’t say any of us are old, but older, Andre’s old as s–t actually,” Green added. “But a mixture of experience and hardly any experience, historically I think in just being a fan of the NBA, I can’t recall the last time you’ve seen someone have success with that, but in saying that that is our situation. So, you do what you got to do to make that situation work.”

It's no secret that Draymond and the rest of the veterans were pushing for the Warriors to make win-now moves this offseason.

Instead, the team stuck with their young guns, seemingly hinting that their eyes are already looking towards the future.

Whatever the case, it will be interesting to witness just how far Golden State gets this season, and if they can make things work with their mix-matched roster.
