The Ben Simmons trade fiasco has been an ongoing saga. For weeks now, the young star has been involved in rumors, and it's no secret that he's already halfway out the door.

The problem is a severe disconnect between what the Sixers are looking for in return for his services and what other teams are willing to offer.

So far, no teams have stepped up with a reasonable offer -- but that could be changing soon.

According to Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com, the Houston Rockets are showing a major interest in trading for the young star.

After talking to some folks over the weekend, it seems the Houston Rockets are seriously interested in acquiring 76ers forward Ben Simmons prior to the start of training camp.

Things remain fluid but John Wall would be headed to Philadelphia in a possible trade, per sources.

This is a swap that could work for both sides.

For the Sixers, the acquisition of Wall would certainly be interesting. While he's not the best long-range shooter, he is capable of knocking them down occasionally. And while they lose a lot of defensive edges, they could more than make up for it with Wall and a few other players on offense.

In Houston, Simmons could be the centerpiece for their rebuild. With a fresh start and a clean slate, all pressure would be off Simmons to maximize his potential next season. Over the following few years, they could work to build a roster that fits Ben's strengths and weaknesses.

All-in-all, it's a good deal for both sides and puts them both in a position to succeed going forward. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not a deal will be reached.

But as things continue to progress over these next few weeks, it will grow increasingly likely that something gets done.
