Anthony Edwards Says He's Ready To Push Karl-Anthony Towns And D'Angelo Russell: "I’m Gonna Start Talking More As Far As, 'You Need To Lock In, Bruh. Pass The Ball.' I’m Finna Start Talking A Lot More."

Anthony Edwards has taken into a leadership role on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick has been very vocal about the team's early struggles this season, even calling them out for not taking the New Orleans Pelicans seriously. 

Ant-Man can be really funny sometimes, but this man takes the game very seriously and wants to succeed with his team. After Monday night game was over, he hinted that will probably take a leading role on the team to hold everybody accountable and ready to go whenever the team needs them.

Edwards knows the T-Wolves have two stars in Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell. Still, he's not afraid to voice his opinion and state that a little more pressure will benefit this team in the short and mid-term. 

Via Jace Frederick of Twin Cities:

"I’m gonna start talking more as far as, ‘you need to lock in, bruh. Pass the ball. Four people on you, pass the ball, know what I’m sayin?’ I’m finna start talking a lot more. It’ll be better coming from me."

He added:

"We think we the only ones on the team. We got to be willing to pass the ball,” Edwards said. “There’s no ‘I’ in team. We can’t beat five people with three people. We beat five people with five people. We got to be willing to play with our teammates.”

“We’ve got to do a better job of getting them involved, making them feel wanted in the offense, not just on defense,” Edwards said. “I told Beas that us three, me, KAT and D-Lo, do a bad job of getting y’all the ball, because we’re gonna get our shots. In order for them to keep fighting for us, we gotta get them the ball. We’ve gotta make them feel involved. We just gotta trust them, man. … If we’re not giving them the ball, then what are we doing?”

This doesn't mean that Edwards has beef with his teammates. Instead, that shows his commitment to the team. He's trying to create a winning culture in Minnesota, and having everybody on the same page is vital for that. KAT and D'Lo definitely want the same as their young teammate, but it'll take time and a couple of adjusts to make it where they want to be. 

Minnesota started the season with a 2-1 record, losing the first match of the campaign against the Pelicans, 107-98 at home. 

Anthony Edwards is a star in the making and the Timberwolves can get many benefits from that. Perhaps they won't compete this year, but the future looks bright for the shooting guard and his franchise.
