JJ Redick Will Become An Analyst At ESPN

A lot of NBA players go on to have media careers at the end of their playing careers. Obviously, former players generally provide a solid and in-depth analysis of the league. It makes sense to have their perspective present, as a contrasting view to other media analysts who haven't actually played in the league.

JJ Redick will be the latest former NBA player to join the media. In a recent Twitter announcement, Redick announced that he was joining ESPN as an NBA analyst. An article accompanied the announcement. JJ Redick has announced his retirement in September, and it seems as though this is his next step.

Redick will make his debut as a studio analyst on Nov. 3 during the game between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks. In addition to contributing to many of ESPN's studio shows, Redick will also be an analyst for some games this season.

"After 15 years in the NBA, I am excited to take what I have learned on the court and be able to provide my insight and strong opinions about the game I love," Redick said in a statement. "I am thrilled to have found a place on the biggest platform in sports, ESPN. I look forward to starting my post-playing career with such an incredible organization."

There was a statement by David Roberts of ESPN featured in the article. Roberts lauded Redick's "tremendous insight" and stated that his experience playing with "some of the biggest names in the NBA" will help the network "better serve NBA fans".

JJ's unique perspective and tremendous insight further enhance the depth of our team," said David Roberts, ESPN's senior vice president for NBA and studio production. "The fact he's played with and against some of the biggest names in the NBA is yet another attribute that will better serve NBA fans."

JJ Redick's Old Man and the Three podcast is extremely popular, and it features soundbites from people all over the NBA world. Going into media seems like the perfect next step.

It's clear that Redick has the experience to succeed in the media sphere, and there's no doubt that he will be a wonderful analyst. It'll be great to hear the former sharpshooter provide his expertise, and there will be many tuned into his debut on November 3rd.
