Klay Thompson Says Warriors Can Win The Championship This Season: "We're 15-2 And I'm Not Even Out There Yet."
As a 5x All-Star, 2x All-NBA player, and 3x NBA Champion, Klay Thompson has been a key player for the Golden State Warriors since the start of their run back in 2015.
Even now, he remains a guy that many believe is key to the team's success.
Unfortunately for Thompson, he's had to take some time off from the game after suffering numerous lower-body injuries, and the Warriors have had to push on without him for the past two years.
With his return imminent, and the Warriors off to a fantastic start, Thompson made it clear that his squad can pick up right where they left off back in 2019:
“Oh, yeah. We’re 15-2. It’s a great indicator. Our defense is top 3 in the league along with our offense. And I’m not even out there yet. Think about that. Really think about that.”
Of course, Klay isn't the only one showing strong faith in Dub Nation.
“It is official,” Stephen A. Smith told his “First Take” co-host Molly Qerim. “I’m picking the Golden State Warriors to win the championship. Let me say this to you -- Gary Payton, much love to his son, he had a couple of highlight plays last night. I’m a huge fan of Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, these boys, [Juan] Toscano[-Anderson].”
With Steph, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins, it's no surprise the Warriors have been good this campaign. They have veterans, winners, and bonafide scorers.
But with Thompson, it might be the edge they need to put them over the top. Through 78 games of the 2018-19 season, Klay put up 21.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game on 40% shooting from deep.
Coming back from two major injuries would take a toll on anyone, and it remains to be seen if he's still capable of playing at a high level.
The good news is, if he's even at 75% of what he was, the Warriors will be near unstoppable.
