LeBron James Is All-In On 2016 Cavs Reunion With Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, And Richard Jefferson
Considering all that has happened in the past two years alone, 2016 feels like an eternity ago now.
Back then, the Cleveland Cavaliers were experiencing their best season in franchise history. Behind the power of LeBron James, his co-stars, and the many talented role-players that dotted the bench, there was a sense of togetherness on that team that hasn't been seen for the team since.
It all ended in the Finals, when James led the squad to a 3-1 series comeback over the 73-9 Warriors.
The Cavs have been mostly irrelevant since then and many of the players on that team have either retired or moved on to join other organizations.
But apparently, a reunion may be in the works.
In a tweet by Emmanuel Acho, former NFL linebacker, he suggested a reunion between the former teammates on "The Road Trippin'" podcast.
The 2016 Champion @cavs need a reunion episode:
@imanshumpert is a Dancing with the stars champion.
@TheRealJRSmith is college golfer at North Carolina A&T.
@Rjeff24 is a fast rising TV personality.
@KingJames is still the best basketball player in the NBA.
At first, it sounded like a pipe dream, but LeBron James himself made sure to let the world know that he was all about it.
It'd be great to see the old gang back together again, and not just because of how their personalities mix.
What those guys did together in 2016 was absolutely incredible, and having a little reunion after all these years is almost like re-living the magic they pulled off in that series.
"Looking back on it, I really feel lucky, because I feel like 100 years from now, people will still be talking about the 2016 Finals," said Richard Jefferson. "100 years from now, people will still be talking about the 2016 Finals. No matter what basketball evolves to. No matter what happens to the Cleveland Cavaliers. No matter what happens to the state of Ohio. No matter if the Warriors wins four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 more titles. (Sorry, Draymond!) One thing will never change. You can never take away 1–3."
It remains to be seen if this meeting will actually happen, or when it would even take place, but the fact that LeBron is already in is a great sign.
Hopefully, J.R., Iman (the reigning Dancing With the Stars Champion), and the others aren't too busy to work something out...
