LeBron James was recently involved in a highly publicized incident during the recent Lakers-Pistons game. Tensions ran high, and there is no question that this was something uncharacteristic for an NBA game.
The incident started when LeBron James inadvertently hit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart, which led to a huge mid-game fight. James also got ejected in the aftermath, only the second ejection of his career.
While LeBron James' action did lead to the physical altercation, it didn't seem intentional. In fact, Shams Charania has recently stated that LeBron James reportedly tried to get Isaiah Stewart's phone number, to reach out to the young center and tell him that the hit was unintentional.
You could tell that right after the play happened, it looked inadvertent. I'm told that LeBron James had made clear, whether it was on the court or post game, that that was an inadvertent hit... I'm told LeBron James did try to track down Isaiah Stewart's number post game to apologize again & let em know it was an inadvertent hit.
There is no doubt that this is a good gesture from LeBron James towards Isaiah Stewart, and it has been abundantly clear that LeBron James isn't exactly a dirty player. He's never been suspended and has a clear record in that department. It remains to be seen what the decision is from the league regarding punishment towards both players for that incident.
The Los Angeles Lakers will hope that the team can put this situation behind them, and focus on winning the games ahead. They did end up winning the contest against Detroit and improving to a 9-9 record. Perhaps we'll see the team go on a run. Even without LeBron James having an outstanding game, the Lakers managed to get the win, and hopefully, that continues in the future.
