Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both amazing players on an individual level. Tatum is currently averaging 25.7 PPG and 8.4 RPG, while Brown is putting up averages of 26.7 PPG and 6.5 RPG.

However, the duo has been criticized by many recently amidst the Boston Celtics slow start. The Celtics are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 2-5. Notably, teammate Marcus Smart called out Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown because "they don't want to pass".

Ryen Russillo of The Ringer has recently commented on the duo, saying that their collective playstyle hasn't "led to any winning basketball" despite their numbers being "absurd".

I just think that they take turns playing basketball, and it's not team basketball... It sucks for everybody else that's out there playing with you. It's a new coach, trying to figure out, get his system installed... Even Brad Stevens struggled... I think they're both so talented. The numbers are absurd... but it hasn't led to any winning basketball

The ultimate goal in basketball is to win games, and the Boston Celtics haven't yet done that well enough to be in a position to make the playoffs. As Russillo mentions, both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are very talented, especially in the scoring department. Both can create for themselves at a high level. But basketball is a team sport, and perhaps reducing their usage and distributing it around the squad could help everyone get involved in the offense.

Luckily for the Boston Celtics, there's a long season ahead, and the Boston Celtics may well turn it around. However, it's undeniable that they are in a slump currently, and they have lost their last 3 games. Hopefully, we see them perform better in the upcoming weeks, and perhaps they will be able to figure things out offensively.
