Saudi Arabia partnerships with Huawei to develop the local talent

At LEAP Technology Conference Riyadh, the Saudi Arabia Digital Academy signed a deal with Huawei on developing local talent. However, the Saudi Digital Academy is an initiative to the Saudi Ministry of Communication to build digital capabilities in the kingdom.

The cooperation of these two entities aims to sponsor 8,000 Saudis to learn information technology and communication at Huawei-accredited centers. The registered students will specifically study artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and 5G internet uses.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia is looking to diversify its economy and reduce oil dependence under its Vision 2030 initiative. On the other hand, this cooperation is the first step in terms of improving Saudi-China relations.

The signed memorandum between Saudi Arabia Digital Academy and Huawei discloses that the trainees will receive certificates and employment upon their competition of the program. Another goal of the partnership is training people to develop Huawei’s services in Saudi Arabia.

Apart from this, this partnership could make the United States angry because it warned Egypt against working with Huawei and other Chinese firms on developing 5G internet networks.

Furthermore, Huawei has recently opened its largest overseas flagship store in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh that build in a 2000 square meters area with a minimalist design.

In addition to this, Huawei Rotating Chairman, Guo Ping has announced at LEAP Conference that the Chinese tech maker has plans to build a cloud region in Saudi Arabia. As of now, Huawei Cloud is situated in countries including Singapore, Bangkok, Thailand, Johannesburg, South Africa, Mexico City, Mexico, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Santiago, and Chile.
