Zach LaVine to the Los Angeles Lakers has been doing the rounds, and a mock trade of him and Caruso playing for the Purple and Gold has had fans buzzing.

The Lakers have been linked to the Chicago Bulls for over a month now. DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic were the targets earlier, and recent reports suggest that LaVine wanted to play for Los Angeles.

Caruso was part of the Lakers before being traded to Chicago. Earlier, it was reported that the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns were interested in acquiring the guard.

A mock trade by a fan suggested that the Lakers would receive LaVine and Caruso for Russell Westbrook, 2027 and 2029 first-round picks, along with the 2026 and 2028 swaps. The post read:

League executives reportedly believe Zach LaVine is trying to ‘force his way’ to LA’ per Sean Deveney. “LaVine wants to go to the Lakers, that has been pretty clear for a while now. The agents want him to be in Los Angeles, he is a UCLA guy and they did some rattling about his contract last offseason.”

LaVine has not requested a trade yet, but there has been groundwork laid for one, with some executives drawing parallels between the unrest LaVine has shown with the Bulls and the unrest shown by Anthony Davis in New Orleans in 2019. Both LaVine and Davis are represented by Klutch Sports, the agency with strong ties to LeBron James. LaVine himself stated in an interview with First Take that his dream teammate would indeed be LeBron James.

The Lakers are only prepared to move their future 1st round picks for an ‘all-star caliber player’ per @WojESPN, with LaVine certainly fitting that description. Still only 27 years old and under contract for 5 years after signing an extension this offseason, Zach LaVine could be the perfect player for the Lakers to target if they want to win now and stay competitive as they will inevitably be entering the post-LeBron era in the coming years.

Using these reports, we put together a trade idea that would send Zach LaVine and former Laker Alex Caruso to LA, with Russell Westbrook’s expiring $47M deal heading to Chicago. The Bulls would control the Lakers draft picks from 2026 through 2029 with this deal and also clear LaVine’s 5yr/$215.2M contract, allowing them to start fresh and begin to rebuild their roster.

This had fans sharing their two cents on the trade idea.

An NBA insider felt LaVine joining the Lakers eventually when the Bulls would consider going for a rebuild. Although, changes might be minimal with Anthony Davis was ruled out indefinitely due to a stress fracture.

On the Lakers front, Jeanie Buss' reluctance to trade Russell Westbrook throws a spanner in the works. This had fans debating.

They can also take Beverly and Nunn. Caruso will fill those defensive gaps.

So we trade one of our best scorer's and a defensive guard for picks we can't use for the next 5 years and a washed-up guard...yeah right

Fair trade. Bulls get cap relief and picks. Lakers get the guy who they shouldn't have let go in free agency. Lavine just makes the money work.

This sucks for the Bulls. Caruso is worth one first alone. And if Donovan Mitchell is worth 5 picks and 2 good players, Lavine is worth 4 picks and a good player.

Please no. If lavine alone is OK, but no with Caruso.. westbrook and 2023/24 draft picks, not 2026-29

everything works fine if we are getting caruso in the deal

Bro whattttt if the lakers want lavine they need to give atleast 4 first round picks (which they don’t have) Russ and a young player with potential for the bulls to even consider this.

There’s no way the Bulls would do this. The contract to value ratio on Caruso is the best in the league.

Zack is AD jr. look at his games played history. He misses an average of 35 games a season. What’s the point? Plus Westbrook is a huge difference maker. Horrible trade.

AD for lavine, caruso and vucevic plus a 2nd

Both teams have been struggling this season. While the Bulls are placed 11th in the East with 14-18, LA is 13th in the West on a  13-19 record. A trade of this magnitude would shake up the league, but for now, this is pretty much wishful thinking.
