The NBA is already approaching the trade deadline in a little over a month and with a lot of teams within the playoff spots, there are some interesting possibilities in terms of moves across the league. While the lack of too many teams toward the bottom means not a lot of stars would be available, there are some excellent pieces that teams that want to improve their chances can go for.

The Utah Jazz blew up their core of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert over the offseason, both players were moved on for big hauls in terms of first-round picks and young players. They have managed to remain competitive despite this, with the players they acquired in return stepping up to the plate. And they were a part of some negotiations recently which would have been quite a big trade if they had made it happen.

Shams Charania Reported On A Trade Involving John Collins And Jae Crowder That the Utah Jazz Turned Down

Two names have been consistently linked with trades away from their current teams, Jae Crowder and John Collins. Crowder has been famously sitting out and not playing for the Phoenix Suns as he looks for a starting role on a contender. John Collins has been rumored as a piece the Hawks wish to trade for quite a while now as well. And it seems that the Jazz was involved in talks regarding a 3-team trade that would have netted them Collins and some picks.

"The Suns remain engaged about trying to move Jae Crowder. They're talking to Milwaukee right now, Miami, and Atlanta, and one scenario I was told recently was between Utah, Phoenix, and Atlanta. That deal would have sent John Collins to Utah. But those three teams discussed a potential deal in the last month or so. And I'm told the deal failed to gain traction when Utah asked for multiple first-round picks. I'm told the potential deal would have been John Collins to Utah, Jae Crowder to Atlanta and other players, and Phoenix would have gotten Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt."

Danny Ainge has been known to covet picks when it comes to these deals, so it's no surprise to know this is what he has been asking for. John Collins is on a massive contract for another 3 years after this season, so it might not be something the Jazz want to take on without some assets either. One way or another, this would have been a huge deal if it had gone through. A lot is going on behind the scenes.
