The Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving have made a lot of headlines for the wrong reasons throughout last season and the off-season. Last year, the debacle of Kyrie Irving not getting the Covid-19 vaccine dragged on for a while and helped derail the Nets' season. When the 2022/23 campaign kicked off, there was an anti-semitism controversy that caused him to miss time and brought negative attention as well.

Since then, though, things have turned around. Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have both been free of drama in recent weeks. The Nets are on a 12-game winning streak, something Irving has contributed to in a major way too. He has been balling out, with his stats for the season also now up to quite high.

The Nets now find themselves just 1 game out of the No. 1 seed spot in the Eastern Conference, something that would have seemed impossible a few weeks into their season. And with Kyrie Irving averaging 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game on a Top 2 seed in a conference, there have been calls to get him into the All-Star Game. Which has led to some interesting debate.

NBA Fans Discussed If Kyrie Irving Should Be Voted An All-Star

Most of the attention for the Nets' record has gone to Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving seems to somehow have gotten a little lost in that. Fans discussed on Twitter whether the enigmatic point guard should be an All-Star this season.

"Yes of course no question."

"He is the best PG in the East."

"Kyrie Irving is an All-Star no questions asked."

"He's missed 10 games man, there are other more deserving candidates."

"Kyrie Irving should be an All-Star, or it's rigged."

"Shouldn’t even be a question. All Star that man."

"How many guards have these numbers??? And y’all wanted him out the league. Y’all are crazy. Kai is that guy."

"He's not an All-Star this season."

"Sorry to say, but he lost a lot of that goodwill already."

"His numbers are good but it might not be the best look."

"Kyrie is already an All-Star in my eyes."

With a lot of components to All-Star voting and Kyrie Irving keeping a low profile, getting an All-Star appearance this season seems unlikely. But it's impossible to deny his quality on the court, and he deserves serious consideration to be part of the contingent this season.
