Philadelphia 76ers guard and G League star Mac McClung put on quite the show in the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and while accolades poured in for his scintillating performance, the biggest one was from Magic Johnson.

McClung won the Slam Dunk contest registering perfect 50 scores in three of his four dunks. The likes of Johnson and Stephen Curry lauded the youngster, and the former Lakers legend opined that McClung saved the Slam Dunk competition.

To which the champion had a very modest answer:

“Oh man, I don’t know if that’s true. But I appreciate that.”

He also spoke about the entire experience:

“It’s really a blur, to be honest. Probably a lot of stuff’s happened on the internet, I haven’t checked. Really just grateful. I had a lot of help, Chuck and my best friends calling me every night trying to give me ideas. It was a lot of fun."
