Trae Young Fires Back At Notion That He's A 'Coach Killer'

Trae Young debunks the theory that he's a 'coach killer' following Nate McMillan's firing.

Trae Young has been involved in controversies this 2022-23 NBA season, especially with his reported clashes with former Atlanta Hawks head coach Nate McMillan.

Talking with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Young tried to shut down the idea that he's a 'coach killer'.

"Oh, people are gonna say what they got to say. I mean, a lot of players have played for a lot of coaches. So, I don’t look at it like that. I’m not looking at the next coach that comes in here or whatever. I’m just trying to, I’m trying to win championships. So, whatever it is, I’m just trying to win. So that’s all I care about."

Ever since he made it to the league, Young has had several head coaches. It all started with Lloyd Pierce, who was replaced by Nate McMillan. McMillan was recently dismissed from the job, and now the Hawks have Joe Prunty as their interim head coach.

Trae Young Opens Up On Nate McMillan's Firing 

Trae has been under the spotlight recently, as many consider him one of the reasons why the Hawks decided to part ways with McMillan. 

The head coach didn't have the best relationship with Trae, and reports suggested that the locker room might be divided between those supporting McMillan and those who sided with Young. 

The player had the chance to talk about his former head coach with reporters, stating that he has nothing but love for McMillan, and praising him for leading the Hawks to record a big run in the 2021 NBA playoff. 

Now, the Hawks need to find a solution to their problems, and they have reportedly identified Quin Snyder as the man that can turn things around this season. 

They could finish the signing of Snyder in the next couple of days, and start a new chapter in this 2022-23 NBA season that has been very challenging for them.
