The Ja Morant situation seems even more complicated than many initially thought it would be. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar was suspended by the team after showing a gun on Instagram.

Many thought Ja Morant would face a short suspension and return. But his problems seem to be a bit deeper than that, with the latest report suggesting that he won't return any time soon.

“It’s going to be about the NBA’s investigation, the Colorado police investigation, and how Ja Morant is going to be seeking help over the next period of days and weeks," as per Shams Charania.

The NBA investigating Ja Morant might result in a suspension that ends his season, especially if they found out that he carried a gun onto the team plane. That might not even be the worst of his problems, there are serious legal consequences to carrying a gun in a different state from the one someone lives in.

But Ja Morant needs to get his act together outside of any punishment he might face. The young star stands to lose out on serious sponsorship money alongside his NBA earnings if he doesn't find a way to rehabilitate his image. And not just that, but he could be putting himself in danger as well. Morant is a young man and it's paramount at this juncture for him to get the help that he needs.

What Does Ja Morant's Absence Mean For The Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have lost a few games recently, including to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Their next 7 games don't get easier either, with most of them against fellow Western Conference opponents. Here's a look at their next 7 fixtures:

The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors are both significantly behind the Memphis Grizzlies but losing those games would put them in a vulnerable position. Ja Morant averages 27 points and 8 assists per game, he will be missed significantly over a long stretch of games. This is the business end of the season, and the timing of this entire scandal could not be worse for the team. But if they can push through it and hopefully get Ja back by the playoffs, the Grizzlies could still make some noise.
