Shaquille O'Neal sent a ripple of shockwaves on Twitter when he posted an image of himself on a hospital bed on Sunday. The former Los Angeles Lakers legend is currently recovering from his hip replacement surgery.

Fans poured out their love and prayers to the big man, who turned 51 this year. In his tweet, he sent a message to his TNT co-hosts, Ernie Johnson and Candace Parker. “I’m always watching @TurnerSportsEJ and @Candace_Parker miss y’all."

According to Awful Announcing, Johnson had spoken about Shaq's hip surgery during the network's March Madness coverage. At the time of writing, there is no timeline for his return, although he did speak about it in his The Big Podcast with Shaq.

"I’ll be back April 16, and I’m going in. I’m going to try and lose 30 pounds and I’m going to try and get an eight-pack. Right now I got a little five-pack."

While the former NBA champion does have his sense of humor intact, it's heartening to see that he's indeed on the way to recovery. On that note, prayers up for the decorated legend.

Charles Barkley Relives Shaquille O'Neal's Initial Days On TNT

There's no doubt that Shaq loves being on TNTs Inside the NBA. The center has been one of the more loved names in the league and his on-screen persona and larger-than-life outlook garnered him a massive fanbase even after he called time on his decorated career.

And it makes complete sense as to why he loves his TNT crew so much, Charles Barkley, his co-host on the show relived Shaq's initial days on the show and how he would come up with hilarious ideas to keep the audience entertained.

"He's got a pure heart," Barkley said. "But man, when he first came there, the thing that was really funny...he come like the first night and he'd do something funny, the second night he'd do something funny. The third night he'd do something funny, then he'd say, "Hey, I need you guys. I wanna try this next week!"

It's strange that Shaq didn't mention Barkley in his tweet, but safe to say there's no love lost between the two, and the latter would have sent his good wishes too.
