Colin Cowherd Says Kawhi Leonard Has Been A Bad Investment For The Clippers

The NBA analyst ripped the LA Clippers forward after the latter's latest injury setback.

Colin Cowherd didn't mince his words when he shared his thoughts on the LA Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, and the team's playoff run against the Phoenix Suns. 

The NBA analyst, speaking on his podcast, The Herd, brutally slammed the forward after his injury. 

"We're year four of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. I'd love to keep Paul George because he plays when he can, he's verbal, and he talks to coaches, but Kawhi Leonard is 32, and he's not gonna become verbal, engaging, and a great communicator. It's time to move off Kawhi Leonard."

"Call it a Clipper curse," he further added. "They don't have any equity in the market. They've almost always been bad. So here they finally get everything right, but Kawhi Leonard's not available. Right now, the Kawhi experiment has become a bad investment for the Clippers."

At the time of writing, the Clippers are 3-1 and are on the brink of a first-round elimination by the Phoenix Suns. They missed Leonard in Game 4, and the bad news that followed was that there was no timetable for his return.

"The Clippers are still moving day-to-day [with this injury]," said NBA insider Chris Haynes. "What we know is that this injury is not connected to the ACL tear that he suffered two years ago. But it is the same knee. That is worrisome, and there's no timetable as of right now."

This is a tough break for the Clippers, who began their postseason on a promising note. With George out as well, the team is already short-handed, and only time will tell if the Suns will make easy work of the side in the next game.

Stephen A. Smith Took Shots At Kawhi Leonard Earlier During The Series

It wasn't just Cowherd who shared his thoughts about Kawhi and his latest setback. NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith called out the Clippers superstar.

“Kawhi Leonard should be on the list of one of the worst superstars this game has ever seen,” Smith said on First Take. “That’s right, I said it.”

"We know the brother is big time, we know that as a talent he’s a superstar… he is that dude. But when you talk about a superstar that is unreliable, I want somebody that’s pointing me out somebody more flagrant than him."

Without Kawhi and George, all the load falls on Russell Westbrook, who has been simply phenomenal for the Clippers since his arrival. But will his efforts be enough?
