Most NBA fans will agree that the regular season has become less interesting to a great extent in recent years. Load management, a schedule with fewer long breaks, and a changing culture have made it less of a spectacle than it already was. Many have ideas as to how the league can fix it, but Nick Wright's wild one might just work.

"Someone give me an actual answer, why of all sports, the NBA has not gone to drafting your playoff opponent," Nick Wright said. "You want the regular season to matter? If you are one seed, if you are Denver if you have earned it... Once the field is set, you pick who you play. That would be a massive reward. And if you're the 2-seed, you get to pick next.

"As opposed to what we're now going to have happen. It's going to be unbelievable to watch the final 120 hours of the season... Let these teams draft their playoff opponent. In the East, Boston, Boston has been better than Philly. You know what Boston's big reward for their season is going to be? Miami in Round 1."

Nick Wright makes a good point, it would be thrilling if NBA teams could choose their playoff opponents based on what seed they achieve. This would lead to some intense drama and even better rivalries, with narratives in the regular season going through the roof. It would make teams want to win a lot more, too, thus curbing load management and leading to a lot more competitive basketball.

What Would Make Nick Wright's Idea Amazing If It Was Put Into Practice

It's not very likely that the NBA would implement such a thing, but if they did, it could be amazing. This would make the entire season incredibly chaotic. Teams picking their opponents would make it so interesting if they ended up losing to those teams. The idea of watching a televised draft of playoff opponents also sounds extremely fun, it would add another element of intensity to the NBA.

This would also make teams a lot more likely to want to clinch the No. 1 seed in either conference. The Denver Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks would essentially get their pick of who to play this season, which would be a massive benefit. This would be a lot of fun if it went through.
