Damian Lillard Explains Why Nikola Jokic Is The Best Player In The NBA Right Now

The NBA has plenty of great players right now, but every year, the conversation about the best player in the competition takes a lot of attention. This season wasn't an exception, especially with the hard-fought MVP race. 

Damian Lillard gave his two pennies in this conversation, naming Nikola Jokic as the best player in the league at this moment. 

"Joker might be the best player in the league… Smart as hell, he can shoot, he pass, he play team ball, he care about winning, he humble, he stay true. I like how Joker do his thing," Lillard stated on Instagram Live. 

The Serbian center has been playing at a high level for a hot minute now, and even though he doesn't get the same attention as other superstars, nobody can deny that he's still reaching new levels and this season might end in the best possible way for Jokic. 

The Denver Nuggets are four games away from the NBA Finals after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. Jokic is ready to finish the job and take his team to the promised land, but it won't be easy.  

Still, given his incredible level, the 2x NBA MVP has a big chance to win his first NBA championship and finish a terrific campaign for his squad.

Nikola Jokic Has Had A Terrific 2023 NBA Playoff 

The 2023 postseason has been nothing but incredible for Jokic, who has been on a tear as of late. Ahead of the NBA Finals, he averages 29.9 points, 13.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists in 15 games, playing 39.9 minutes per game, shooting 53.8% from the field, 47.4% from deep and 78.4% from the free-throw line. 

The Joker is simply on another level this postseason and whoever faces him in the upcoming Finals will need to put in a lot of effort to try to stop him. To make it worse, they'll have to deal with Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and others. 

This Nuggets team is close to doing something incredible and their superstar will try everything to take them to the promised land. It's easy to agree with Dame's take, as Jokic is proving nobody is better than him right now.
