'Inside The NBA' Producer Reveals When He Knew That Shaq And Chuck Would Work Well Together: "The Two Of You Guys Wrestling In A S**tty Parking Lot In San Antonio"

Inside the NBA is probably the most successful sports show around right now, with the various characters on the show fitting ever so well together.

The interactions between Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal tend to be the highlights of the show and its producer Tim Kiely revealed when he knew these two would work well together.

"We were in San Antonio. You were working for us. Shaq was still playing for the Lakers," Kiely said. "You took us all out on an excursion to the Riverwalk. We were walking across this parking lot and a big limo pulled by and all of a sudden I hear it screech to a stop and a door opens, and this voice yells, 'F*** Charles Barkley.' I'm going, Oh, we're going to be fighting and all this other stuff.' I turn around and it’s Shaq. He gets out of the car and runs up and tackles you. The two of you guys wrestling in a s**tty parking lot in San Antonio. And when I saw that, I said if we can get that guy on the show, we will have something special."

The decision to hire Shaq has proven to be a masterstroke. Sure, he has his moments where he might get a bit sensitive, but other than that, he just fits well alongside Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith. Their success led to all four of them getting long-term contracts with TNT last year, which ensures they will be together for years to come.

Shaquille O'Neal Explained Why He Chose To Work For TNT

Just over a month after his retirement from the NBA in 2011, O'Neal announced he would be joining Inside the NBA on TNT. Someone of his magnitude could have signed basically anywhere he wanted to and Shaq once explained why he decided TNT was it for him, over the likes of ESPN.

He stated that his worst day at work on TNT would be a good day, while his worst day at ESPN would get him fired. Well, ESPN's loss was TNT's gain, and they would want Shaq to continue working for them for a very long time.
