Kevin Durant Gets Real On His Shoving Incident With Nikola Jokic

Kevin Durant downplayed his shoving incident with Nikola Jokic calling it "absolutely nothing."

With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter of Game 5, Nuggets guard Bruce Brown and Nikola Jokic attempted to listen in to the Suns' huddle, and Durant shoved the latter causing him to stumble backward. This caused quite the furor, but the Suns forward was keen to just brush the incident off.

“It wasn’t anything serious,” Durant said. “They were excited. They were up big, and we were trying to draw some stuff up. And you know how that goes. I don’t think it was nothing.”

However, coach Monty Williams was having none of it, and urged the league to prevent that from happening. “The league has to figure out all that stuff,” he said, speaking to the media after their 118–102 loss.

“There’s just too much silliness going on in the NBA when it comes to that. Everybody does it. There should be a written rule that you shouldn’t walk over to somebody’s huddle, but everybody in the league does that, it’s kind of silly." The move ended with Durant and Brown being assessed with technical fouls.

The Phoenix Suns Have One More Shot To Stay Alive In The Tournament

After trailing 0-2, the Suns played admirably to recover and equalize the deficit. But they did blow their chances in Game 5 with their inefficient shooting and erratic defense.

Now, they have one more chance to force a Game 7 when they play on Thursday at the Footprint Center. They do have the necessary firepower in Devin Booker and Durant, especially with the form the former is in. And a look at their Games 3 and 4 suggests they have the Nuggets figured out.

The winner of this series will most likely face the Los Angeles Lakers in the WCF, assuming they blow their 3-2 lead to the Golden State Warriors. It remains to be seen if Phoenix can land two more punches to oust Denver.
