Orlando Magic Reporter Accuses Patrick Beverley Of Sending A Plant To Ask Questions To Boost His Podcast

Patrick Beverley has been called out for planting an individual to ask a question about him to Wendell Carter Jr. After a game between the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month, Carter was asked about Beverley and an Orlando radio host believes it was asked by someone the 76ers guard had planted. In response to that claim, a Magic reporter stated it was certainly a plant.

"Hey. It was a plant for sure. I was in the press conference room when that happened and after the press conference, I went in front of the Sixers locker room to see the players walk out. As I’m waiting I see Pat Bev and the 'reporter' who asked that question greet each other."

Dilan Bosch then claims to have seen Beverley and the individual, who asked the question, leave together. Bosch also shared proof that he was present at that press conference.

"Then Pat Bev walks out the locker room. He was wearing black boots, orange and black jeans. He walks up to the 'reporter' guy who was with two girls and tells him 'you got it?' The 'reporter' says 'yeah', then signals him to follow him to the team bus and they leave."

There is no way to know for sure if something as bizarre as this actually happened, as Beverley would obviously deny it. This would, though, be quite the tactic to get players to talk about him. If they said anything negative, he could then fire back at them via his Pat Bev podcast to boost the viewership there.

The podcast currently has over 221K subscribers on YouTube, which is a very respectable figure. It is what makes you think there would be no need as such to plant a reporter at a press conference, but who knows?

What Did Wendell Carter Jr. And Patrick Beverley Say?

This whole situation really kickstarted from a Beverley tweet. He has made it a habit to post about the 76ers being on a "Belt 2 A**" tour when they win games and did so after they beat the Magic 124-109.

"Belt 2 A$$ Tour. Thanks Orlando way to show up."

Carter was asked about this post on X in his postgame interview.

"To be quite honest with you, no one's really worried about Patrick," Carter said. "I mean, a five-point game? What did you (do)? I don't understand how he affected the game, but that's what he does. He's trying to get us to buy into his online antics. He's just doing a lot right now, and I guess that's his angle he's trying to take now, towards the end of his career."

(starts at 6:28 mark):

The reporter's angle here was that, considering Beverley had taken shots at the Magic in the past, was the team paying attention to posts like that one? I'd get the question if he had only posted it after the Magic game, but he had been doing it for quite some time.

Carter's response led to Beverley going at him on his podcast.

"Wendell Carter made a statement about five points impact winning and that's the problem right there," Beverley said. "Loser mentality. Think I was the highest plus-minus off the bench. Think I led the team with blocks, steals, six (rebounds), four assists. Young fella the game ain't all about points. I think you had 25 points and lost."

(starts at 10:23 mark):

Beverley finished the game with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks and says it was more impactful than Carter's 25 points and 11 rebounds. He said he wasn't surprised by the big man's response, though, as he had never been a part of a winning team. The clip of him roasting Carter on X generated over 2K likes, so if it was a plant, it did lead to Beverey's podcast getting a fair few views.
