Stephen Curry Remains Confident In Jordan Poole Despite Postseason Struggles

Jordan Poole showed some signs of life in what has been a torrid postseason for him in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers with 21 points.

Since then, however, he failed to hit double-digits in Games 2 and 3, but despite his struggles, Stephen Curry says he and the Golden State Warriors remain confident in Poole.

"We are all extremely confident in what he provides for us," Curry said. "What he can do out there and keeping it positive, just how he approach the game and that's what I love about him. He has great energy and making or missing shots, it's gonna happen but the other things that you can do to impact the game, I know he's been putting a huge effort in that, so it's just a matter of sticking with it because you'll get rewarded in the big picture and especially because we do have a lot of confidence in what he provides for us and what he's capable of doing."

(starts at 3:06 mark):

Poole had 6 points in Game 2 and 5 points in Game 3 and shot just 15 times in total over the two games. He averages 11.3 shots per game in his playoff career, so perhaps his missed shot in the closing stages of Game 1 is bothering him and he is just not being that aggressive anymore. Both Curry and head coach Steve Kerr did state they didn't have a problem with the shot selection , but it could still be playing on his mind.

Jordan Poole's Numbers Have Fallen Off Drastically Compared To The 2022 Playoffs

Poole had a very good season for the Warriors in 2021-22 and he established himself as one of the rising stars in the league in the process. He also earned a four-year, $140 million deal thanks to it, but it is safe to say he isn't living up to expectations so far.

Poole's numbers have dipped across the board in these playoffs as compared to last year. In the 2022 playoffs, he averaged 17.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 3.8 APG while shooting 50.8% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc. In 10 games here, he has managed 11.6 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 3.6 APG while shooting a woeful 35.5% from the field and 28.8% from beyond the arc. If Poole doesn't get his act together in the coming games, it is hard to see the Warriors advancing past the Lakers.
