Toronto Raptors Named A 'Frustrating Team To Deal With' By Rivals

The Toronto Raptors have been in the middle of the pack since they won the 2019 NBA championship. The Canadian team has tried to be as good or better than that magical squad, but things haven't worked out.

This summer presents a series of questions for them, who are starting a new era under Darko Rajakovic. The team could make some moves in free agency and the trade market, but according to rivals, they are 'frustrating to deal with.'

"Speaking of Anunoby, there is a growing sense among executives who have called the Raptors (albeit with some caution) that Pascal Siakam may be easier to deal with than Anunoby currently. One savvy executive did mention that he felt that was a means to judge market value if and when the Raptors do decide to trade Anunoby. However, it’s fair to say front offices are pretty worn out on the attempts by Toronto to get “blood from a stone” as one executive put it at the deadline in any deal. Multiple sources have described the Raptors as frustrating to deal with. So why keep calling? 'There are only 29 teams to work with,'" Matt More of Action Network writes.

Without being a star, OG Anunoby has been one of the most sought-after players in the league in the past couple of years. The Raptors are well aware of this, and they also know how valuable Anunoby is.

Keeping him on the roster is crucial for their future plans, whatever they are. Rumors have it that anybody not named Scottie Barnes can be traded, but Anunoby could join that list now.

The Toronto Raptors Have A Big Summer Ahead

After parting ways with Nick Nurse, the Raptors are set to start a new era. Rajakovic isn't necessarily a coach for a rebuilding, which makes the Raptors an intriguing team this summer.

This team wants to win again, but as currently constructed, they won't go that far in the playoffs. They could assemble an interesting team but it'll take time for them to build the best squad to compete for championships again.

Fred VanVleet has declined his player option for 2023-24, but the Raptors are still in the mix to sign him if the market isn't big for him.
