Kenny Smith Explains The Reason Why Ernie Johnson Doesn't Sit With Him, Shaquille O'Neal, And Charles Barkley In The TNT Green Room

The Inside The NBA crew is the most loved panel on NBA television, with Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith constantly entertaining the fans. And they're all held together by Ernie Johnson, who is considered the ultimate host.  

But when the crew is in the green room while fans are watching games, Johnson doesn't sit with everyone else in the green room. And Kenny Smith spoke about the hilarious reason for it. 

“So, we have our green room. Charles is sitting to my left, Shaq is sitting to my right and there’s an empty seat in the middle,” Smith said. “This has been the seating for 17 years. And like, no one ever comes into our green room and sits in those seats. Now, we have multiple TVs going on.”

When asked about where Ernie Johnson is, he said, “Ernie does not come in there. He dabbles in, he sticks his head in, grabs some food, and he leaves. Because he doesn’t want to be partaking in the things that are going on, the shenanigans that HR would be calling him about. And he’s like, ‘No, I wasn’t there.’ It’s better for him.”

The TNT crew gets up to some wild stuff on the air, like the time Shaquille O'Neal spoke about farting while in the studio. Ernie Johnson already has to ensure that things don't get out of hand, which they are liable to with Barkley and Shaq around. The fact that even he can't control them off the air means it's a good idea for him to not be around.
