Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets In The Finals Would Be A Nightmare For The NBA, Says The Athletic's Zach Harper

The Conference Finals matchups are set, with the Denver Nuggets taking on the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference and the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat clashing in the Eastern Conference.

There is significant interest among fans to watch a legendary Lakers vs. Celtics matchup again, while the Lakers vs. Heat also has the narrative of a Bubble rematch. But according to The Athletic's Zach Harper, the Nuggets and Heat facing off in the Finals would be a 'nightmare' for the NBA.

"I think the biggest nightmare we have as an NBA is a Miami v Denver finals," Harper said on The Athletic NBA Show. "I don't believe in conspiracies, I don't believe in the league getting in the way. I do think something happens here. I don't think there's a chance in hell we are getting Miami and Denver."

Joking about how the league would prevent this from happening if David Stern were still NBA Commissioner, Harper added, "Somebody would be taking a bat to Bulter's knee."

These comments are not serious from Zach Harper, but they do address a serious issue. The NBA media is skewed in favor of bigger markets, and the premier franchises doing well always bring in more viewers. This is something the league needs to change though, growing their small markets will only be better for the NBA in the long run.

There is no chance that the NBA would rig any of their series in any case, whatever refereeing scandals there have been are truly in the past. The Conference Finals have some promising matchups coming up, and the best teams will advance to compete for the ultimate prize.

It's Impossible To Predict Which Teams Will Win

Considering that the Lakers are the 7th seed, and the Heat the 8th seed, it would be easy to say that the Celtics and Nuggets will win. However, the truth is very different. The Nuggets will face a tough challenge with Nikola Jokic having to go against Anthony Davis, while playoff LeBron James will be going off as well.

The Miami Heat seem like a team that shouldn't have made it this far, but Jimmy Butler and Erik Spoelstra cannot be counted out. They took this Celtics team to the last shot of Game 7 last season and will be looking for revenge. Both series will be a great watch for NBA fans, and it is tough to say who will come out on top.
