Phoenix Suns Sign Bol Bol On A One-Year Deal And Gain Four-Second Round Picks In Trades With San Antonio Spurs And Orlando Magic

The Phoenix Suns are title contenders for next season, having acquired Bradley Beal early in the offseason to pair along with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. The team also made some top moves in free agency, putting an athletic roster around their Big 3.

It seems the Suns weren't done making moves either, they have signed free agent Bol Bol, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski.

"Free agent F/C Bol Bol has agreed on a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. At 23, Bol had his best NBA season with Orlando: 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 blocks in 21.5 minutes. Another developing talent to join a deepened bench rotation."

The Suns will need assets if they want to make moves for quality role players ahead of the season or at the trade deadline. And in service of that, Shams Charania reported that they have traded Cam Payne and a second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for a second-round pick.

He also added that the team has completed a trade with the Orlando Magic where they have gained three-second picks in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick swap. This means the Suns have now added Bol Bol to the roster and gained four second-round picks by giving up Cam Payne, a second-round pick, and a first-round swap.

Adrian Wojnarowski Explained How The Suns Now Have Four First-Round Picks And Six Second-Round Picks

It is getting harder and harder to build a team in the NBA, especially after the new CBA introduced a second tax apron. Trades will be very important moving forward, and second-round picks are about to become valuable currency. And the Phoenix Suns have ensured they gather enough of a haul to make changes to their team moving forward.

"Across the past two weeks, the Suns have replenished draft capital post-Durant and Beal trades. They’ve added six second-round picks to go with the four first-rounders in the team’s arsenal — and another good young player in Bol."

The future looks bright for the Phoenix Suns, they will surely be a contender to win it all going into the 2023-24 season. The Western Conference is stacked though, and they might need to make a couple more moves to get through it. They've now given themselves a chance to do so.
