- Klay Thompson spoke about Jordan Poole's departure from the Warriors
- He said that Jordan Poole is like a little brother to him and Stephen Curry
- Klay Thompson predicted that Jordan Poole will become an All-Star in the future for sure
In a move that was unexpected to some people, the Golden State Warriors chose to move on from Jordan Poole in the offseason. He was part of a trade that saw the Warriors acquire 38-year-old Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards.
Jordan Poole had a notoriously terrible relationship with Draymond Green, but the same wasn't true for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. And speaking on Podcast P, Thompson showered Poole with praise and showed him some serious love.
"It hurts to see Jordan go, that's the nature of the beast," Klay Thompson said. "He was homegrown, I saw him put the work in, I saw him go 2-15 in a game. But then he would be in the dungeon, which we call our practical facility because there are no windows, getting shots up right after the game.
"I'm like, man, this kid is gonna be special. And we wouldn't have won the championship without him. Like, he was so important to us when Steph went down. Jordan is forever going to be cherished in the Warriors' lore just for what he did and bringing us back to where we needed to go.
"And I know he's going to do great things in Washington and it felt good seeing him last week. It was weird seeing him in Wizards gear, but that's like Steph and I's little bro. He got All-Star potential... Washington got a good one. Future All-Star for sure."
Jordan Poole averaged 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the Warriors last season. And even though he struggled at times, he blossomed into an excellent player for them. The 24-year-old will surely thrive in Washington with more opportunities to score the ball.
Jordan Poole Reportedly Got Traded Because Of His Poor Performance In The Playoffs
Jordan Poole struggled in the 2023 NBA playoffs, being unable to produce the form that helped the Warriors win a championship in the previous year. He started just four games, averaged only 21.8 minutes per game, and managed just 10.3 points per game. And that was the reason that convinced the Warriors' front office to let him go.
The GM of the franchise has also called trading him an 'easy decision' which is sure to make him play with a chip on his shoulder next season. Jordan Poole will be one to watch next year, for sure. Klay Thompson's All-Star prediction might just come true sooner than even he might expect.
