This software completely deletes the AOSP code, which is currently used in HarmonyOS. Also, it saves about 40% of redundant code. Reaching the conclusion, HarmonyOS NEXT doesn’t support Android apps and supports only native HarmonyOS apps.

Huawei has set an example by developing its own HarmonyOS ecosystem for the Chinese industry. Xiaomi could learn from Huawei to set up its own software ecosystem in China.

Some online bloggers believe that Xiaomi will rename MIUI 15 to MiOS starting this year. However, DCS denied these claims and indicated that the company would release MIUI 15 as usual based on Android. Some other speculates that the company call it something Chinese like HarmonyOS but there’s no information available.

For now, MiOS remains uncertain and there’s more that could appear in near future.
