"F**k This Lasagna" - Patrick Beverley's Reaction To A Minnesota Timberwolves' Tradition

  • The Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Patrick Beverley in August, 2021
  • Patrick Beverley brought a winning mentality to the team and that hilariously started with him bashing a team tradition
  • Patrick Beverley spoke with Karl-Anthony Towns about how he hilariously reacted at a lasagna party at the house of the team owner

Patrick Beverley is a mercurial character, and the one thing that defines him is an intense desire to win. During the 2021-22 season, he brought that to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Patrick Beverley was traded to the Timberwolves in August 2021 and immediately brought grit to a team that needed it. He told the hilarious story of how that began in a conversation with Karl-Anthony Towns.

“Minnesota do this lasagna thing, right Rone, no cap,” Beverley said on his podcast. “True story, before every season, they have like a lasagna cookout at the owner’s house. Him and his wife, family. Their family.

"Obviously, I’m coming from LA, you know, I’m straight Hollywood. So Lasagna Night, I’m like, ‘Lasagna Night? F**k that lasagna night, we need to be on the court!’"

It's hilarious to imagine Patrick Beverley coming steaming into another locker room, all pumped up to get his new teammates going, and finding out that they have to instead go for lasagna night.

Patrick Beverley has yet to win a championship, but he did help the Minnesota Timberwolves get back to the playoffs in 2022. And their stars still seem to have a lot of love for him.

Patrick Beverley Changed His Mind About The Lasagna Night That Very Evening

Patrick Beverley may have had a point when it comes to the team being mentally focused on winning above anything else. But as far as the Lasagna Night was concerned, he changed his tune quickly.

As the conversation on the podcast went on, Beverley further revealed how he finally ended up having a brilliant time eating some lasagna.

“So, we get on the bus, right? Mind you, I don’t know where I’m going. I’m fly as hell. I’m talking jewelry on and sh*t. We going to the middle of nowhere in Minnesota. An hour and a half bus ride, Rone… ‘I was the first in line Rone, I had like three plates.’”

If imagining Patrick Beverley, all iced out, going back for second and third helpings of lasagna doesn't bring a smile to someone's face, it's hard to say what would.

Patrick Beverley was eventually traded away in 2022 as part of the deal for Rudy Gobert, but the Minnesota Timberwolves would surely love to have his energy back at some point in the future.

Patrick Beverley Has Managed To Make Minnesota Timberwolves Fans Angry

Patrick Beverley is loved by the fans of the teams he has been on. And Wolves fans were among those who had become his biggest supporters too. But Patrick Beverley said something about the franchise that has them all angry at the moment.

Patrick Beverley was talking about the budding face of the franchise, Anthony Edwards, and he confessed that he thinks the young star will leave

"He will get out of Minnesota. That's just what happens. That's no disrespect to Minny. With that personality, he can change the world with basketball. He is the type of player that you need to see."

It's easy to imagine why this would rub a lot of die-hard fans the wrong way, but Patrick Beverley will always be remembered fondly in Minnesota for the most part.

After all, who can forget that legendary celebration of him crying and taking his shirt off after securing a playoff spot with a play-in victory?
