Josh Hart frequently bets on NFL games and is pretty open about that fact as well. As he saw Green Bay Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks go down with an injury on Monday, Hart wondered on X if it leads to his prop bet becoming void. It led to a fan asking why he bets on games when he's so rich, and the 28-year-old had a simple response.
"For the love of the game."
Hart signed a four-year, $81 million contract with the New York Knicks this past offseason, so he certainly isn't short on money. If he really likes the NFL and believes he knows enough about the league, then there is no harm in betting on it.
Hopefully, he is not putting in ridiculous amounts, as we have seen stories in the past about players gambling away all the money they earned in the NBA. I'd like to believe Hart is smart enough to not do something like that.
As for how his parlays have gone recently, they've been a mixed bag. A few weeks ago he was rather bullish about them, but hilariously ended up going 0 for 6.
A week later, though, his fortunes flipped, as Hart announced he'd gone 3 for 3 on his parlays.
You win some, you lose some. That's just the life of someone who gambles regularly. Hart probably would start betting on NBA games as well when he retires, but there's, of course, a long time for that.
Josh Hart Roasted Mitchell Robinson
Hart is certainly one of the more funnier players in the NBA right now and has been a great addition to the Knicks on and off the court. He loves to take some light-hearted jabs at his teammates and Hart hilariously disrespected Mitchell Robinson by calling him a top-30 center in the NBA.
He and the Knicks will sorely miss their top-30 center on the court now, though, as Robinson suffered a stress fracture in their loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday. He needs ankle surgery and looks set to be on the sidelines for over two months.
Robinson was averaging 6.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game for the Knicks this season, and had excelled on the defensive end. The rest of the team is now going to have to step up on that end of the floor.
Josh Hart's 2023-24 Season With The Knicks
Hart really shone for the Knicks after they traded for him midway through last season. He averaged 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 58.6% from the field and 51.9% from beyond the arc.
He hasn't been quite as good in this 2023-24 campaign, though, putting up 8.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game while shooting 49.0% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc. Hart was feeling somewhat left out on offense at times in this campaign but wanted to make it clear he isn't disgruntled.
Defense is where he'll now have to focus a bit more, with Robinson on the sidelines. New York is currently sixth in the East with a 13-9 record and it's hard not to think they will slide down a little bit without their big man.
